Episode 078 – Cricket Hill East Coast Lager, Sarnac Summer Brew

We take a look at a VERY small brewery near the Jersey Shore, Cricket Hill, which totally wows us with their East Coast Lager. Anyone who likes a good lager should check them out – if you can get your hands on it, that is.

Next we move to the Matt Brewing Company’s Sarnac line and their Summer Brew. Half lager, half lemonade, it’s really a “Shandy.” It gets some decent marks from Johnny, but Dave is less enthusiastic on this particular take of one of his favorite summer beverages.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found and tried the Cricket Hill lager (in bottle). I would put it a notch above Yuengling and it’s at least as good as Sam Adam’s Boston Lager.
Saranac ought to win an award for best value craft beer. They are by no means my favorite but the make a great line of enjoyable beers with cases in the $25 range. That plus for the indecisive PA buyer their seasonal variety cases are always a nice deal with 6 types of beers – albeit 1 or 2 that I don’t always care for.

I love the way you guys always know a lot about the beer you are drinking.

@Joe – good call. Sarnac does do some palatable stuff.

@Gibb – thanks so much! It’s all smoke and mirrors! (Just kidding :) )

87 for the first one? I guess you didn’t really like it? What do you give a PU?
