Yum! I read somewhere that Mendocino brew co was the first microbrew in California and second in the country. I think Anchor doesn't count because blah blah. Red Tail ale was the first real beer from the states I ever had back in the eighties. When they were small they were located in Hopland, Ca. about 1/2 hour south of Ukiah. I used to drive through there on the way to Clear Lake. They were an awesome brewpub at the time, with hippies hanging out. They are most famous for the Red Tail Ale but my roomie likes the Eye of the Hawk "select" ale. Very good but a little stronger than the red tail. I almost opened one of his eye of the hawks but decided to go for one of my Alaskan Summer Kolsch style ale. Refreshing. It's very light, good for summer porch stuff. What's your take on Kolsch style ale, or maybe you've done a show on it already? Thanks!

Not sure what info u found online but in CA MBC is known for being a phoenix-like company along with Anchor Steam that rose out of the prohibition ashes and started the craft brewery revolution that took place in the 80s & 90s. Good to see they are in NY but they have been playing opossum on the West Coast.
