Episode 076 – Maredsous Abbaye Abdij, ‘T Gaverhopke

We take a look at two blondes from Belgium – well, both claim to be blondes, but both are actually a little something different. The first, the interestingly named ‘T Gaverhopke from the Flanders region of Belgium and is actually an Abbey Tripple, and underwhelms us. The second, from the Browerij Duvel Moortgat, however, (a Belgian Pale Ale disguising itself as a blonde) turns out to be something really nice.

I just tried the Maredsous and its an excellent beer. Like you said, strong.. but it hides it well.

Throw a dog a bone. Give that sucker a 90 if you're gonna put it in your fridge. 9.8 percent and you can't taste the alchohol? I'm gonna give it a 92 and I've never heard of it. Good show. I think if it's the best of it's kind that you've ever had you need to rate it that way. What is a better example of a blond whatever. Now I read the fine print and it's an ale disguised as a blond? I need a real beer.
  • @Daniel - I like their summer ale! Maybe we'll have it on.
