Episode 060 – Pilsners at I-SITE! Warsteiner Premium Verum, Pilsner Urquell

The awesome peeps over at I-SITE invited us to film our 60th episode on location at a party they were having. After the event, we were all heading out to a pilsner taste-test event, so we decided to discuss two pilsners on this episode. A great audience of about 50 people made this a really cool episode to shoot!

Warsteiner, the great German beer company we’ve discussed before, comes in with high marks for its Premium Verum pilsner. However, Pilsner Urquell, which claims to be the original pilsner (and is brewed in the original pilsner brewery in Pilzen, Czech Republic) disappointed all involved. Except maybe one person.

Be sure to check out I-SITE!

I was watching through old episodes and I ran into this. Are you sure that the Pilsner Urquell wasn't skunked or something? It looks like your pouring it from a green bottle and that can skunk the beer if it's exposed to too much light. Around here, both those beers come in 500ml cans and I think Pilsner Urquell beats Warsteiner hands down. I've had Warsteiner on a couple occasions and didn't think it had a lot of flavour.

Yeah. We actually happily drink both, but head to head we appreciated Warsteiner more. Some of the crowd did appreciate the Pilsner Urquell more – but for us, the Warsteiner beat it hands down.

But that's why we always encourage people to try everything we do – you're never guaranteed to have the same opinion we do. Hopefully we can still help guide people to amazing beer!
