Episode 012 – Viewer’s Recommended Brews

In this week’s episode we take some suggestions from our viewers. All of you have been recommending beers to us and we answered the call and tried some. Although some of the suggestions were seasonal and unavailable to us at the moment, we went with the appropriate beers for the summer season from the breweries suggested.

Most notable of these was the Victory Prima Pils recommended by Arkhamresident. We also sample Harpoon Summer Beer and Rogue’s American Amber Ale. Compared to last week, all of these beers were great but some left us unimpressed. Enjoy the show and enjoy some beer!

  • I totally agree. I think summer ales have very subtle flavors that can be difficult to describe. It's almost frustrating at times.

The first time I had Rogue's Amber was a total accident. I meant to grab the Mocha Porter next to it but I started checking out a woman walking past me and well... Anyway, good beer IIRC.

I've never been impressed with Harpoon except for their Hibernian Ale. It's a seasonal Irish Red ale, wonderfully malty and refreshing.

Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Wiesse. Not to be confused with the Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Wiesse. Amazing hoppy weizenbock. It cost me $12 for a 750 mL bottle but worth it.

I love you guys too. Erm... the show. Yeah, I meant to say I love the show.

For me, Summer seasonals are always much harder to capture and describe.

Ive kicked off my Summer with my traditional run at different wheat beers, I'm enjoying the Sierra Nevada Wheat right now. Any suggestions form you guys?

It's been averaging about 115 degrees out here everyday, so I've also been killing the Coors, thanks to your suggestions.

Good episode guys. I'll look forward to your Dead Guy review whenever you get to it.
