Episode 011 – Non-Alcoholic Beers

In this very “tasteless” episode, Dave and I explore the mysterious and elusive world of Non-Alcoholic beers and get burned for it. We try Sharps from Miller, Coors Non-Alcoholic, and Einbecker NA Pils, which does not live up to the flavor of its potent companion brews. However it does lend itself to a comedic session as we try these flavorless options to the the beer world.

What brave souls. I shall drink a few decent Victory brews in your honor.

I checked the new arrivals on the Foodery Beer site and saw they had the Lagunitas Undercover listed. GET THAT SHIT!

Also after browsing the Foodery site I’ve started to hate GA even more. We get so little beer compared to PA.

Far and above my favorite episode yet. Hysterical. Well done guys!

.5% ??!!? Seriously? I think the tap water out here has a higher ABV than that.

Secondly, you guys actually seemed surprised by the beers craptastic nature. Really?

@Dave in PHX – yeah, we were a little surprised. I think we were assuming that if the product was total crap, the company would never have produced it. I expected it to taste like Miller light or Coors Light – not fantastic, mind you – but decent enough.

Turns out, we were wrong and it’s complete crap. Why even put it out if it’s soooo bad?? We were, indeed, a bit surprised.

    Amuzing and honest reviews.

As a brewer in an authentic German Microbrewery, I endured a similar tasting. We wanted to have a non-alcoholic ‘beer’ alternative for designated drivers – Always a good idea when you’re drinking beer by the liter! Here’s a list of some non-alcoholic beers that you should be able to find and may find more palatable.

Clausthaler – (Uses a unique, patented process)
    Bitburger “Drive”
    Kaliber – from Guinness.

    Warsteiner NA
    St. Pauli NA

    Buckler – Heineken

I drink NA beer more or less daily (Erdinger and Brewdog mostly)

If I had 5%+ beer every day, I am sure I would have similar reactions to those in the vid.

I can drink 5% alc beer, but it really is like I put 5 spoons of sugar in my coffee when I am used to just half a spoon.

Long live beer and its rich variety. Glad to see both the NAs and the heavies on the increase.

    Cheers
    Dave
